This can place significant pressure on government visa departments and companies like TLScontact who support them in front-end&nbsp;service delivery. Managing this period well requires preparation that begins months in advance.<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">International travel continues to grow. According to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.untourism.int\/news\/international-tourism-up-2-in-q1-2026-amid-growing-uncertainty\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">UN Tourism<\/a>, tourist arrivals in Q1 2026 were up 2% year-on-year, despite the disruption caused by the crisis in the Middle East.\u00a0As the summer starts, governments and visa outsourcing\u00a0companies\u00a0are\u00a0once again\u00a0dealing with\u00a0a familiar challenge: how to absorb a sharp, concentrated surge in visa demand without compromising the applicant experience.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Encouraging early applications<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The most effective way to prevent bottlenecks\u00a0as summer approaches\u00a0is to\u00a0spread demand over\u00a0a longer period. When applicants wait until the final weeks before their travel date, appointment slots\u00a0can\u00a0become scarcer\u00a0and\u00a0processing times come under pressure, which can lead to\u00a0frustration on all sides. At\u00a0TLScontact,\u00a0preparation for the high season starts as early as February each year, in close coordination with the governments that we\u00a0represent. In the months preceding the summer period, we publish guidance for applicants\u00a0on our\u00a0websites, and\u00a0run targeted local communications campaigns to encourage applicants to\u00a0submit\u00a0their visa applications as early as possible. These campaigns are delivered in partnership with organisations such as local Chambers of Commerce and travel agencies, whose networks allow us to reach travellers at the point when they are planning their trip,\u00a0before urgency becomes a problem.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Dedicated pathways for specific applicant groups<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Peak summer demand does not\u00a0only\u00a0come from\u00a0tourist\u00a0travel.\u00a0Many students\u00a0are\u00a0also\u00a0applying for visas over the same period, with a view to beginning their studies in September in their destination country. Their needs, timelines, and documentation requirements are distinct from those of holiday travellers, and\u00a0so\u00a0they\u00a0generally\u00a0benefit\u00a0from a dedicated service pathway.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At TLScontact, we work\u00a0closely\u00a0with the local consulates\u00a0and organisations such as Campus France,\u00a0to\u00a0agree appointment quotas specifically\u00a0allocated\u00a0to student applications. Dedicated appointment\u00a0tables are put in place\u00a0for this group, reducing competition for availability with\u00a0other applicant categories\u00a0and streamlining what is often a more complex application process. This coordinated approach helps ensure that students are not disadvantaged by the seasonal surge in overall demand.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Once again, information is key.\u00a0In Cameroon, for example, we run\u00a0regular\u00a0information sessions for students\u00a0in partnership with the consulate and Campus France.\u00a0We also\u00a0work with local secondary schools whose pupils are taking the French\u00a0<em>baccalaur\u00e9at<\/em>,\u00a0to inform them on the visa application process for those pupils who want to pursue their\u00a0higher education in either France or Belgium.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Expanding processing capacity<\/strong>\u00a0<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Alongside demand management, we increase our operational capacity to meet the higher volumes that summer brings. As outlined in our recent article on\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tlscontact.com\/en\/insights\/managing-change\/flexible-service-delivery-for-visa-and-administrative-processes\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">flexible service delivery<\/a>, this involves hiring\u00a0additional\u00a0staff ahead of the peak period and extending opening hours at our visa application centres.\u00a0Where required, we also run on-demand missions, sending expert staff to carry out biometric enrolment at specific locations,\u00a0to\u00a0facilitate\u00a0group\u00a0applications\u00a0and save applicants a trip to one of our centres. That\u00a0is what we are doing in Madagascar this year, for example,\u00a0where we will send a team to the Campus France offices\u00a0to collect student visa applications during the summer period.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These measures are planned well in advance,&nbsp;in close consultation with our government clients, to ensure that expanded capacity aligns with agreed service levels and that quality is&nbsp;maintained&nbsp;throughout.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Adapting to a seasonal reality<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Visa demand fluctuates\u00a0throughout\u00a0the calendar year, and the summer peak is one of its most predictable features. Our\u00a0objective\u00a0as an outsourcing partner is to\u00a0anticipate\u00a0these fluctuations and respond to them systematically,\u00a0through early communication, targeted provision for specific applicant groups, and scalable operational capacity.
